Due to the current market situation, GTX 1060 cards are one of the best options for mining Ethereum and other coins. They are power-efficient and hash really well for the money. Plus, those cards are usually more available than other models, especially when we compare them to the mining ones.
Past days I’ve been testing some rigs with Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6G GPUs and I’m ready to share my findings with you.

Pricing and availability
As for today, the card isn’t available on Newegg. It can only be found on Amazon and other sites. Price-wise, it is about 15% more expensive than the MSI Gaming GTX 1060 6GB I’ve reviewed earlier. Talking about which, both cards are very similar in all aspects.
The only difference is that the Geforce version features slightly higher core clocks and fancier LED illumination (which is crucial for mining, indeed).
Compared to the 3GB version, the 6GB features about 10% more CUDA cores. The extra memory also helps it to handle better Ethereum’s increasing Dag file (according to estimations, 3 GB cards will no longer be able to mine ETH by May 2019)
Despite being a bit more expensive than its MSI counterpart, the Geforce GTX 1060 is still a better ROI than a GTX 1070 Ti or even a GTX 1080. It is also way easier to get than a mining P104-100, especially if you are looking to buy more than a dozen of cards. Besides, let’s not forget that prices change every day, so make sure to keep an eye on the market situation.
In Conclusion
I am pretty satisfied with the Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 6GB. It is a decent mining GPU and is totally worth the money. Now, depending on the deals you find, you might want to go for the MSI Gaming GTX 1060 6GB if it’s cheaper. I own both cards and I can say that they are pretty similar when it comes to mining. My advice is – go for the one you can get at the best price.
