Thank you Ciprian!
And what about “Sapphire RADEON RX 470 4G or 8G GDDR5 Mining Edition”?
Can be a equal or better solution if available?
Regards
I think it can be a good mining solution, but you are stuck with it, you can’t probably sell it later on since it most likely doesn’t have connectors for monitors.
there is a hidden hdmi connector 😀
It is a good choice, i am also using them 🙂
On your PSU suggestion, Do I only need 1 PSU to run the 6 or 8 card mining rig? I was just adding all these components to my Amazon shopping list and thought 2 PSU’s might be more applicable. Also do you have an open air frame suggestion for Amazon shopping as well?
Hey @shaggysloan:disqus , you will need two PSU of 850w tor un 8 cards at once 🙂 here is a nice looking frame for 8x gpus http://amzn.to/2CJ51oI
Thanks, I kind of thought 2 PSU’s were needed.
Hey Ciprian, I am planning to buy 2 of Seasonic Focus Plus 750 Gold so my question is can i connect 3 GPUs to one PSU because i cant seem to find good enough review. I am not sure PSU has all cables for 3 GPUs + 1 CPU. Did you have any experience with this PSU?
THanks
Hi, i never used that psu :/
I’ve that PSU, You can connect 4 GPUS on it (2 cables, each has 2x 8pins power connectors), I currently have a 100W CPU + RX 580 + 1060 3gb and its all fine, so I guess 3 GPUS is possible with a less power hungry CPU. Just Make sure you calculate how much your system use and leave a 100W margin.
Hi Ciprian,
I see you listed that Corsair RM750x PSu is good for building 6 GPU mining rig. My question is can i connect 3 GPUs per one Corsair RM750x. Because i kept looking on internet and i seem to understand i can only connect 2 GPUs on one PSU Corsair RM750x. I dont see cables for 3 GPUS + 1 CPU. I am used to EVGA G2 750W.
Thanks
Yes indeed the PSU has two PCI-e cables but each cables has two heads and you have power two GPUs with one cable.
Hello.
First i have to thank you for all the information you have on the homepage. This is amazing.
I´m very new to this but i´m very interessted on building my own rig, but i want to start with only 3 GPUs. Does it even make sense to start with 3?
Can you tell me why the 4GB graphic card and not a 8GB?
And what is important at the PSU, how many pins is needed?
Thank you.
Yes of course 3 GPUs are good to start the mining 🙂 buy anything you can affort to start with. Check for PSU to have enough PCI-e cables to power up video cards.
Thank you. And can you tell me what´s the difference at mining when i use a 4gb or 8gb GPU?
There’s no difference, the only thing is that if you mine ETH you have to take into account the DAG size. Right now DAG is around 2.2 GB (Loads that into GPUS ram) and it will most likely reach 4GB+ in 2021 or so. (Search dag size calculator).
All the difference is in the brand of the memory though (required for a good OC and higher hashrate), samsung being the best, followed by micron, hynix.. (not sure elpida where it stands).
Thank you very much.
Hi Ciprian,
I’ve read i think at least a quarter of your articles here, maybe more, i don’t know. You are a great guy, good job honestly.
I have a small question for you. I have 6 RX 580 Nitro+ from Sapphire and 2 Corsair 750 plus 6 risers with sata to 6 pin connector, version 006C if you know them. So the question is…i heard that you can connect only maximum 2 risers on a sata cable and my PSU has 2 sata cable, each with 4 sata connectors. So basically i have to put 3 connector on one cable to the risers and the other cable i have to use all 4 sata connector, 3 for risers, 1 for ssd. Will it work? Some say, especially on bitcointalk, they won’t work this way and you can melt you cable. I really need some advice because i don’t know what to do… I repeat that i have risers with sata to 6 pin, not 4 pin, the old version, neither do i have the direct molex risers…
Hey @csgodedera:disqus (are you global? :P, i also play csgo) That’s true, i never power more than two risers per sata/molex cable. Connect two risers with one sata cable and one riser + ssd with the second sata cable 🙂
Hi Ciprian!
I would like to tell you to be careful about recommending MSI Z270 Gaming M3 because it does not support 6 cards, only 4 working. I’ve had them and tried like hell to get them work with no luck at all.
Below you can see a post from MSI forum telling people it does support only 4 gpus and the last post is showing pretty clear the cards that support 6gpus or over, and M3 is not there.
https://www.msi.com/blog/Mining_Intel_Motherboard_Go_with_MSI_100_200_Series_Motherboard
I’m not trying to be rude, just to clear out that M3 is not going over 4 gpus.
Glad you romanians like me make such great things. Keep it up 😉
Have you tried playing with bios settings? 🙂
Don’t play smart with me. I’m not a noob with stupid questions, I was just trying to help people so they don’t buy Gaming M3 because it won’t work with more than 4 gpus.
I’ve bought this motherboard just after it was released and nowhere on the internet was a post or discussion about this mobo. Now, there are a lot of people saying they can’t run with more than 4 gpus, also the MSI team says that. They asked me on a support inquiry and also on the post above you can see that M3 is not listed on 6 gpus supporting motherboards.
Atunci sa le “delete-am” 🙂
Hi man (or another kind soul), help me. 🙂
I have h81 pro btc 2.0, 6x 1080 armor oc, 2x evga 850w BQ and 6x pci risers with molex ( Like these ).
Should i plug 3x gpus and all pci in one psu and the other 3x gpu on the second psu or plug 3x gpus and 3x pci risers in one psu and the other 3x gpu and 3x pci risers in the second psu ooooor use the molex in the motherboard and don`t power any pci risers?
Is there a problem if my energy goes down and up and de second psu (with a have a jumper on green and black cable and keeps on all the time) keeps on, while the main is off?
Finally, is there some tweaks on that motherboard or tips for my config?
Thanks in advanced guys, and sorry if a miss something. I`m Brazilian.
Hey @Thiagotwm:disqus , you should split the gpus and risers. Connect 3 GPUs + 3 Risers + MoBO, CPU, SSD with PSU1 and 3 GPUs + 3 Risers with PSU2, let me know if that answer your questions.
Thanks man. I will try that.
My second psu on while the main is off, is there any problem? i mean if the system turn off and i’m not near to manually shut down the second psu.
I wanted to use ( these ) but a don’t find where a live, so i’m jump start the second.
Is there some tweaks on that motherboard or tips for my config or on windows 10 64bit to make all 6 gpu work? like disable onboard video, make all pci gen2, rise the virtual memory etc.
Use these instead http://amzn.to/2FFqEZe
My only option is jumper.
Now I have another problem, Windows only recognize 3 gpu. 🙁
What mobo ?
H81 pro btc r2.0. It was a Windows 10 64bit v1709 problem. I updated to latest updates now works, at least for the past 1h. Hehehe
Waiting 24h of stability to do that 5% overclock ;).
And hope altcoins stabilize, this down is getting me woried.
Now a have some home power/wiring issues.
Before i build this rigs i was thinking about the problems that may occur, and every single one of them is happening.
At least i’m able to get over them, so far…
About the overclock i don’t want my cards +80c 24h/7
my mining hashrate was 25 Mh/s, now it’s 598 Kh/s can anyone tell me why is it hapenning? I use nicehash.
Asrock z270 Killer SLI
Pentium LG4560
GTX 1060 6 GB OC
4 GB DDR4 2400 mhz

Thermaltek 600 W
Check your cables and clocks.
Hi Ciprian! Hi Guys!
I hope this aint to much of a noob question but I´m wondering if mining EtHash altcoins like e.g. ELLA or PIRL will become obsolete after ETH turns POS?
Thank you for clarifying!
Hi Ciprian ! Hi guys, im new at mining and i want to invest like $6K for building 2 rig’s. I was thinking to purchase RX 580 Nitro + 8 gb but i dunno :/ And any store where i can look for good deals here in Europe. I was checking at caseking.de the rx 580 cost $452 the nitro+ version. Any suggestions are appreciated…
p.s(electricity is not a problem in my country )
You say these are the current best deals but there are no links to where you found the price on these items? What good does the information do anyone if you do not provide links to where you found these best deals? Maybe I am missing something but googling these items did not turn up any “deals” on these items. Can you please provide links to where these deals are or at least tell us how you are finding these deals? Thanks!
Hey @romne11:disqus , every product on this article have links, not sure why you can’t see them, if you are using adblocker turn it off.
All the deals must be gone…. :(. When I click the links the prices are all $100 – $150 more. Crazy price gouging going on right now.
Hi! Can I mine Ethereum with a gtx 1060 3GB? And It’s is posible, with is the different with the gtx 1060 6 GB
Thank you!
Hello.
What´s the difference between this 2 following add2psu adapter?
http://amzn.eu/7b8GoIP
http://amzn.eu/gWTiV4Z
Is ther more control on the first one or doesn´t it matter which one you use?
Thank you.
Use the first one, the one with cables is baaaad.
Thank you.
Hi Ciprian!
I would like to ask, why you suggest using 2 smaller PSUs (750-850W) instead one with 1000 or 1300 W? Is it becuase using one PSU I won’t have enough cables? or what? Could you please explain in a few sentences?
Thanks
Hi, Sometimes yeah, cables are not enough to power all the gpus and risers with one cable each, which i recommend but also you pay less for 2x 750w than 1x 1300w, also you have much more power there 🙂
Thanks for the answer. I ended up with 2 x 750 EVGA PSU.
Best,
Edmund
Hi Ciprian, just a random question over here, I’ve mining for 6 months and i saw a normal decrease in my eth returns over time, but with the last surge of ether i saw an enormous decrease, i went from 0.1 eth a day to 0.6 eth a day, is this loss of performance normal? or something is wrong with my farm (i mine at miningpoolhub with 22 gpu, multi algo, normally 200 mh etash and 6.9kh equihash)
Difficulty increased very fast https://etherscan.io/chart/difficulty

I have become Physically disabled So this is going to be my future and the future of my children SO IM VERY SERIOUS IF YOU ARE NOT PLEASE LET ME KNOW
Hey Richie, not sure why you get error message, i just tested it and worked.. anyway i recommend windows 10 to start with, here you can find the settings https://1stminingrig.com/best-windows-setup-configuration-tweaks-for-mining/
Regarding you GPU, i already made a mining performance review for it, you can find it here with miners needed and configurations: https://1stminingrig.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-mining-performance-review/
Basically you have everything needed to start in those two articles. let me know if you need to know anything else 🙂
