Here it is guys, as promised! Just finished to test Sapphire RX 470 8GB Mining Edition Hynix Memory, great performance just like the one with Samsung memory. In this benchmark i included LBRY and Pascalcoin and PascalLite for dual mining, i kinda avoided them lately but someone asked for them.
Firstly the GPU was tested remotely but later i got one from a friend, again power consumption will not be that accurate because i “LOST” the energy meter :/, we will compare it with the previous one.
Apparently the RX 470 8GB Mining Edition with Hynix memory is less problematic, so this time i wont have a “problems and fixes” section.

The BIOS
I discussed and explained how to use the QUAD UEFI BIOS switch jumpers in my previous tutorial for mining editon gpus, another thing you can find is a quick guide about to make the rig work without the GPU display adapter.
Flashing the BIOS
1 Back Up the BIOSBefore flashing the new BIOS, I recommend you to back up the original one first.
- If you don’t know how to do it follow point 2 from my previous tutorial: click here

That’s it 🙂 Enjoy & happy mining!
Thanks for the hard work and the information! I did not buy any AMD’s because of the Hynix memory, now I shall look for some cards. I read that all new 1060’s are now Hynix memory, not sure if this is true tho.
What is wrong with Hynix? I have RX570 Hynix and I am getting about 30Mh/s at 100W!
I know Nvidia cards with Hynix perform 20% less than Micron or Samsung memory. Good to hear that AMD cards are not having that issue.
Nice job figuring this out! I’ve been trying to get these cards to perform for a few weeks now, and was only getting 25mh/s. Let’s see how they’ll pass the test of time. Thanks for sharing your work & results!
BTW – I’ve just updated to Afterburner beta 16 and can’t seem to activate the core voltage. Any suggestions?
Have you disabled on board video card from device manager? Also have you enabled the voltage from afterburner settings?
Hello Ciprian,
What is your hash rate speed with this graphic card(RX 470 8GB ME Hynix Memory) on ETH current difficulty ? Thanks,
30.7 mh/s 🙂
With the bios version provided here?
Multumesc,
dap 🙂
great work!!!! do you have a bios for the rx 470 8GB mining edition with micron memory?
Nope.. do you have this cards?
Does anyone have moded bios for Sapphire RX470 4Gb ME with Elpida ram?
I need the bios that has been modified voltage directly in the bios since i need to use it on simpelmining os and the undervolting doesnt really works with this card.
Thanks
I just finished to test the 4GB ME with Hynix memory, the one Elpida mem will be tested soon.
Ok, great, on some gpus hyinix and elpida share same bios maybe here is the same on this card but i am not sure, are you able to integrate low voltage settings directly into the bios itself? thanks
I’m waiting for it my friend. I also have built a rig with 6x RX470 4GB ME with Elpida memory. It’s not good soo far without your roms.
One more day 🙂
Very Nice man…do u think this set up work with ethOS?
Yes it should work.
When I put both Bios switches down (hynix) and restart rig windows not recognized card? Should I reinstall driver or there another fix?
atikmdag-patcher solved the problem. Now i raise from 21.5 to 24.5Mh/s. Improvement 🙂 Thx
I did everything in order as you wrote down but the speed only increased from 20MH/s to 22MH/s. I tested all switch positions and one time I got 24MH/s but after a restart it dropped down to 22MH/s again. What did I do wrong?
I am having the same issues. Stuck at 24 MH/s with updated BIOS and miner. bat file setting did not do anything. I think the DAG increase to #150 is causing AMD’s to decrease in hashrate.
Have you tried to lower dcri ?
Have you tried to lower -dcri ?
Hi Ciprian V.
Any chance you can share a good mining bios for Gigabyte RX580 8gb(hynix H5GC8H24MJ)
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-RX580AORUS-8GD-rev-10-11#kf
I dont have a bios for this card.. but i can connect to your rig and make one 🙂
Sorry for my stupid question, but this BIOS will only work for this particular type of GPU right? I mean different brand, different mem chip will need different BIOS, and you can make the BIOS for them. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Yes that’s correct!
Thanx for the awesome tutorial,
question:
-Whats normal working temperature of this setup? 55-65 celsius?
Yes up to 65c is good 🙂
Hello and thank you for the work,im on these cards win10 blockchain drivers i flashed the bios i got around 24mh but i cant overclock them with afterburner nor with claymore, when i set the memory clock nothing changes.any suggestion?
have you applied the patch ? also are you using the beta afterburner ?
yes i did the patch and afterburner 4.4.0 beta
Make sure MSI is the beta one from here: https://1stminingrig.com/ethereum-dag-hashrate-drop-fix-amd-official-mining-drivers-are-now-out/#How_to_fix_Ethereum_Ethash_DAG_epoch_hashrate_drop
it is the beta one,i dont think its the afterburner the problem..any other suggestion? i tried everything…its 5 gpu rig the motherboard is asrock h81 pro btc
I cant get over 25m/h with this bios. i cant add the commands into claymores because i have 3 different GPU in the same rig. any ideas?
You will have to add the commands for each gpu separated by comma 🙂
Hi Ciprian, I’ve a Sapphire RX 470 OC 4Gb (reference) with Elpida RAM…could you tell me where I can find a good BIOS mod? my performance is max 20 mh/s with claymore dual miner 🙁
nice jop but i have problem i make same steps i have rig 8 card asrock h110 i reach 30 mg/h every card i use claymore and lower dcri 4 when restart rig it back to 24 mg/h
and told me( Default Radeon wattman settings have been restored due to an unexpected) and when i turn off claymore and open again rig restart i use afterburner beta16 same problem
Anyone know how to disable ‘Fan Stop’ feature on this card?
I have fan set to manual and maxed out in WattMan. The fan revs to 100% but stops to 0 every few minutes.
I can seem to disable fan stop completely! Please advice.
Hi,
Have you a BIOS for Sapphire RX 570 8GB ME with Hynix mem?
Thank you.
Hi, do you think the rx 470 mining edition will decrease its hashrate the same as the normal rx 470 cards as you wrote in one of your articles a few months ago in June? And do you think it is worth it to buy the mining edition, given that it has no display output and smaller warranty?
What are your thoughts on that?
Thanks a lot in advance.
That problem was already fixed with the new driver release 🙂
Hi Great tutorial, what settings would you recommend for simple-mining os?
I didn’t tried SMOS yet, maybe i will make a tutorial soon..
Thank you for all of your hard work in putting this together for us! I have the Sapphire rx 470 4GB mining edition. The sku # is 11256-35-21G. Will this tutorial apply to me even tho you are running the 8GB version?
For 4GB version BIOS is different, planning to post today the article for those..
Were you able to make the article for my specific model of 470? I just finished my build with the 4GB mining editions and I dont want to screw this up. Do you have a link to it?
not yet 🙁 sorry.. i promise i will have it posted this coming week..
Ok well, I don’t mind throwing you a tip for your efforts. I just gotta build my rig tomorrow. I’ll try and figure something out. Thanks again
I can confirm proudly that Capriani did it again!!! its working great and hash is 181 with 6 cards i used all his tutorials maybe few changes so far great performance
big thanks Capriani
Awesome, thank you too @denisjanuzi:disqus 🙂
@ciprianpt:disqus
Thanks a lots for your work!
Now my rig looks more or less stable (not rebutting 10 times per day – as was before).
But I have other issue: after restart hashrate is really good (about 30Mh Eth + lbr), but after some time (10-30 minutes), it is decrising to 23.5 Mh (it seems, usually it becames after Setting DAG Epoch).
I have 5 RX 470 ME and 1 RX RX 570 ME (with Hynix memory).
Could you advise – how can I solve the issue?
https://image.prntscr.com/image/4GkGwWk7Td2E5Iwo3fJpiQ.png
Maybe somehow nicehash should affect the oc ..
Hey Ciprian, Great job again -thanks! I’ve just started again with this BIOS on ethOS but only hitting 23.8 MHs. I’ll keep tweaking the BIOS settings etc but wondering if there’s a Windows / Linux issue – think the blockchain compute versions of the drivers only came out for windows? Any help much appreciated!
Hi, there is also Linux version, check your settings, it should work!
Ciprian – I’ve been an idiot and overwritten my stock rom file. Only have your modded version now but want to play with PBE from the stock. Don’t suppose you have a copy of the original rom?
Hey @mrkst:disqus yes, check this two versions:

Ciprian, you are a God among men. Thank you!
Hi any update regarding SMOS please?
From what you are saying ( settings for windows ) this cards working completely different on SMOS
I don’t understand…..I had used yours settings on SMOS and I am mining ETH 177Mh/s -1080 W @ wall . How to drop the power usage ?
I guess the settings there are applied differently..
Hello Ciprian,
Nice article! I myself have a few XFX rx470 8GB hynix version. I made a few bios tweaks but still the boards cant pass 26 mhs, can you give your opinion if i send you the bios?
Thanks
Salut, aici: https://1stminingrig.com/hire-me/ , dupa ce iti raspund o sa il poti atasa in mail.
Hi, do you have a modded BIOS for Sapphire rx470 8gb ME (hynix H5GC8H24MJ)? Same as the card in this post except a different Hynix version.
Hello,
i have the sapphire radeon rx 470 mining edition 4GB with Hynix memory and cant get it running properly. Do you have a bios for this one?
Please email me!
Hello and Happy New Year!
..is a good idea chose the 4GB version?
Thank you !
Yep!
Hi @ciprianpt:disqus I am building a large farm at the moment, and we have a range of cards, from MSI RX470 8GB, XFX RX470 & 570, plus Sapphire RX580’s.. All 8GB. I have a great bios mod for the sapphires, but not for the others, any chance you could help me on that? Thanks man! Also looking for some help developing a mining pool if you are interested, we will have circa 150GHs of hashing power 🙂
Hey @spencertarring:disqus , please use this contact form so we can chat more on this: https://1stminingrig.com/hire-me/ thanks!
Done. Hope it worked. Speak soon.
Hi , quick question — my rig has 6 Sapphire nitro+ 8Gb mod getting 30+(184 total) hashrate , Every so often the rate will drop down to 8 (48 total)
I restart Claymore and everything goes back to normal
I looked into the log and don’t see any spike in temps on the Gpu , anything else that might be causing this ?
Maybe too much undervolt..
I was working on it and I saw , Socket was closed remotely and then hashrate dropped after that, using nanopool
Hi Ciprian, followed this but I’m getting a ‘SubsystemsID Mismatch’ error when I load the Hynix rom.
Do you have the same exact video card?
I do..RX 470 8GB Mining Edition (hynix). I modified your bios using Polaris editor to match my Sub ID…and it worked..however I’m not getting the same hash rate as yours 🙁
Hi Cyprian..any idea why in Afterburner the ‘Core Voltage’ is greyed out and not adjustable? I already ticked ‘Unlock Voltage Control’ in settings but its still greyed out.
Hey Ciprian, do you by any chance have a modded bios with Micron memory for these cards?
This is the original ROM: https://mega.nz/#!sg1xUDQB!aAzQJilCDhuklQMQawDXe2F1u4DpS7uAGh0nqKPVe88
I just made 3 versions, you can download them here:
https://mega.nz/#F!o5pnUI6B!GSZcHF8Hj0twZlLS6xrOkg , first test auto1.rom and then the other ones, can we schedule a test? 🙂 let me know the results please!
Hey Ciprian, thanks for the help. I was able to reach 29-30 Mh/s per card stable. Sure we can, i’ll email you.
thanks!
